Black Undergraduate Students
From its start during the 2019-20 academic year, the Black Future Lawyers (BFL) program at UofT Law offers Black undergraduate students a range of opportunities to engage with the law school and legal profession. Our goal is to create a positive community that supports students towards achieving their goals of attending law school and becoming a lawyer.
BFL Activities
- Attending the annual Black Future Lawyers conference at UofT Law
- Attending speakers, panels, conferences and other special law-related events on campus
- Attending law school admissions/application and financial aid sessions intended specifically for Black students
Mentorship and Networking
- Connecting with Black law students
- Coffee chats with Black lawyers who are practicing in an area of law in which you are interested
- Getting paired with a mentor who is a Black legal professionalAttending the annual Black Future Lawyers conference at UofT Law
Work Experience and Law School Prep
- Participating in UofT Law’s free LSAT prep program where eligible
- Job shadowing at a court or other legal setting
Connecting with Current UofT Law Students
If you are thinking of applying to law school and wish to speak with a current law student, then the Black Law Students’ Association (BLSA) at UofT Law may assist.
The association hosts social events and other informal networking opportunities, plus it may offer advice on getting started with your personal statement for law school applications.
